<Начало истории>Новый год, наверное, самый главный семейный праздник в России. Его отмечают в кругу семьи в ночь с 31-го декабря на 1-е января. На праздник покупают новогоднюю ёлку, украшают её игрушками, дождём и гирляндами. Под ёлку кладут подарки и ставят главных новогодних персонажей - фигуры Деда Мороза и Снегурочки. Новогоднее застолье начинается с тостов за уходящий год. На праздничных столах всегда есть шампанское и салат оливье. Ровно в полночь бьют куранты и начинается Новый год. В этот момент люди чокаются бокалами с шампанским или вином, поздравляют друг друга, дарят подарки и загадывают желания. Потом многие жители выходят на улицы и запускают петарды, зажигают бенгальские огни. Наиболее весёлые гуляют до самого утра! Выходные длятся целую неделю. 7 января отмечают Рождество.
